Leading Kiwi fashion designers are lending their creative talents to premium rug company Designer Rugs with the design of an original and single edition rug to raise money for their nominated charity.
The 2008 Designer Rugs charity auction has secured the creative talents of Air New Zealand Fashion Week designers Zambesi, NOM*D, Cybèle and State of Grace, along with WORLD and Crane Brothers, who have all created a unique single edition rug never to be reproduced.
An on-line silent auction set to launch at a cocktail function at the Designer Rugs showroom in the Auckland NZ, on Wednesday 10th September will offer design enthusiasts the opportunity to own a true collectors piece. All monies raised from the silent auction will go to the charity chosen by each fashion designer.

Designer Rugs together with Indesign Magazine, DQ Magazine and Corporate Cutlure supported by Harry Seidler and Associates are proud to launch the SEIDLER TEXTURES RUG AWARD for 2008.
Harry Seidler was not only renowned for his contribution to the Australian and International architecture world but also had a reputation of using Shag Pile and textured rugs in his buildings- especially Designer Rugs'. The rugs were used to soft the striking and bold lines of his architectural to create a warm interior.
ABOUT THE AWARD:
In honour of Harry Seidler's contribution to the world of rugs, Designer Rugs together with Indesign Publishing and supported by Harry Seidler and Associates have established the SEIDLER TEXTURE RUG AWARD.
This competition is open to all Australian interior designers, architects, project specifiers and interior decorators who have used a shag pile or textured rug* by Designer Rugs in a commercial or residential project between January 2006 and July 2008.
All entries will be shown on the Designer Rugs website and Indesign Live throughout the competition.
The winning submission will be based on the most creative use of a Designer Rugs texture rug in an interior space as judged by the panel.

at 100% design
The second instalment of the collaboration between Designer Rugs and Ilias will be unveiled at 100% design in London 18-21 September 2008.
Designer Rugs has produced what is set to be a series of rugs featuring patterns from series 1 and 2. The 'Molecular' rug will be displayed featuring strong and bold patterns. 'Molecular' is one of the most popular designs produced by Ilias.
