Caroline Baum is a writer, journalist, broadcaster, curator and photographer based on the South Coast of NSW. Her SAND SCRIPT rug collection is inspired by the mysterious calligraphic patterns made by sea snail colonies on the rock shelf near her home on the pristine beaches of the south coast of new South Wales.
'The backdrop of the rock, rich and vivid with minerals, created a colourful natural canvas for the gorgeous abstract landscapes made by molluscs. Each day, the tide washes them away. The rug designs are a lasting interpretation of their daily scribbles.' Opulent and timeless, each piece tells a story.
COLEDALE was created in 2018 as a 'post-script' to the SAND SCRIPT collection - a revisit of the inspirations of the original designs with an updated twist. Based on the eroded rock platforms of its namesake suburb, this textural and organic design maintains Baum's signature coastal style mixed with all the opulence of a handknot rug.
