Christine McDonald is a Senior Designer for Designer Rugs, with over 20 years of experience. Rugs are often inspired by nature, abstract and evolved, and Christine’s collection LØCAL definitely draws from this. Christine developed each design from a very personal aspect- the region of Wollongong, where she grew up and still lives to this day. The designs have been described as “looking through the clouds onto a field of pattern”, just like you would see from the panoramic view at Stanwell Tops. The aesthetic created by the LØCAL collection is further enhanced by the use of traditional, Nepalese hand knotting techniques. The time-honoured tradition of hand knotting Tibetan wool collides in a palette of colours, each sympathetic to the Australian interior.

COAL COAST named after the area that Christine grew up in; Stanwell Park to Port Kembla. The coaling industry has a rich heritage of this region of the south coast, New South Wales. It's an unique area of landscape that sits between the mountains and the Tasman Sea. This design inspired by seagull footprints on the sand, with a shibori twist.

Care + Maintenance

We advise professional cleaning for all our rugs.

Vacuum regularly - we do not recommend using rotating or
brush head vacuum cleaners on any of our rugs, or vacuum
cleaners with a very strong suction.

Clean spills immediately. Never rub a spill, instead blot any
liquids with a dry absorbent white cloth or white paper towel. If
in doubt, please seek professional advice from our Preferred
Cleaner Network.

Do not steam clean or dry-clean your rug, and avoid harsh
chemicals. Our rugs are not machine-washable.

Direct sunlight will cause fading - avoid direct exposure to
sunlight.
