What a day it was! This past Saturday, our showroom came alive with the buzz of creativity and connection for Saturday Indesign 2025. We were thrilled to welcome so many design professionals and enthusiasts through our doors for a day dedicated to inspiration, innovation, and, of course, the transformative power of colour.
From engaging discussions to hands-on artistry, the event was a celebration of the vibrant design community. For those who couldn't make it, and for those who want to relive the highlights, here’s a look back at an unforgettable day.
The morning began with a delicious breakfast and our much-anticipated panel discussion, "The Power of Colour: Transforming Spaces Through Design." We hosted a full house of attendees eager to hear from industry leaders on how colour shapes our environments and influences our experiences.
Our expert panellists; Sue Fenton, Senior Associate, Woods Bagot; Wade Little, Director, LITTLE; James Walsh, Industrial Designer & Creative Director, Alor Studio; Marija Tomic, State Manager VIC Designer Rugs; and moderator Jessica Agoston Cleary, each brought their unique perspective to the table.
They explored the psychology behind colour choices, trends on the horizon, and practical ways to use bold palettes in both residential and commercial projects. The discussion highlighted how a simple shift in hue can completely alter a room's mood and function. The session concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing the audience to engage directly with the experts and deepen their understanding. It was the perfect, inspiring start to a creative day.
One of the day's biggest attractions was the chance for guests to get hands-on with the tools of our trade. We set up a station where attendees could try using a hand tufting and loop pile gun, giving them a real feel for the craft and precision that goes into every Designer Rug. It was fantastic to see so many people light up as they experienced the artistry behind rug-making first hand.
The creativity didn't stop there. We also launched a special competition inviting guests to become the designer. Using our custom colour tool, attendees created their own unique rug designs. The energy in the room was palpable as participants experimented with palettes and patterns.
We were blown away by the incredible designs submitted, and we're excited to announce that the winner was Peta Smith from Peta Smith Interior Design, who will soon see her vision brought to life as her very own custom rug.
Throughout the day, our showroom was a hub of activity. Guests learnt about our prestigious Evolve Design Competition, which continues to foster emerging talent in the industry. Everyone who visited also took home an exclusive Designer Rugs tote bag as a small memento of the day.
