Designer Rugs creates handmade custom rugs and carpets for residential, commercial and hospitality interiors across Australia. We collaborate with architects, interior designers and private clients to bring custom concepts to life, with a strong focus on quality, materiality and detail.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a part time Junior Designer to join our team on a parental leave contract for approximately 8 months. This is a part time, office based position, ideally spanning across 5 days – happy to look at school hours.
You will be involved in real projects from the start and gain hands on experience in the custom design process, from concept development through to production.
What You’ll Do
• Prepare artwork for client presentations
• Development custom designs
• Review and quality check custom orders
• Manage the design sample and colour library
• Support day to day design documentation and studio admin
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You
• Are a recent graduate or have 1 to 3 years experience in interior, textile or product design
• Are confident using CorelDraw, Illustrator, Photoshop or CAD
• Have strong attention to detail
• Communicate clearly and professionally
• Are organised and comfortable managing multiple tasks
• Enjoy working in a small, collaborative team
• Have a genuine interest in interiors and textiles
This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who wants exposure to high quality custom design and to learn how a small, established studio operates day to day.

Join our dynamic team here at Designer Rugs selling to both commercial and residential customers. You will work with interior designers and architects, helping them find the perfect pieces to elevate their spaces.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A passion for interiors, design trends, and high-quality craftsmanship
Your days will includ
• Managing a portfolio of clients presentations
• Visiting clients on-site and present our designer rug collections
• Generating new business across your territory
• Providing exceptional customer service and design advice
• Working closely with our internal team to deliver seamless project outcomes
• Manage projects tender phases from engagement to finalisation and collaborate.
•Build and nurture relationships with Tier 1 & Tier 2 architects and designers
