Designer Rugs has been actively involved in engaging with and supporting the design industry through initiatives including their unique design competitions.
2010 saw the introduction of the ‘Evolve’ design competition, Designer Rugs invited industry professionals throughout Australia and New Zealand to submit their designs with the aim of having their design brought to life by Designer Rugs and showcased at an industry level.
The six outstanding finalists in ‘Evolve’ receive industry-wide recognition as their combined works come together to form Designer Rugs’ internationally respected I.D. Collection.
As a company that is passionate about design; recognising, nurturing and rewarding emerging talent is important to Designer Rugs.
Throughout the last decade Designer Rugs has held design competitions in collaboration with the International School of Colour and Design, TAFE NSW and College of Fine Arts, UNSW.
Competitions such as ‘Floored’ and ‘Rug Up’ continually draw interest and submissions from hundreds of design students. Finalists’ designs are created as hand tufted rugs and added to Designer Rugs in-house ranges.
Our unique designs deserve spectacular launches and Designer Rugs have hosted a myriad of exciting social events that have celebrated the release of our designer collaborations in the fine company of respected industry professionals and dear friends.
From Dinosaur Designs ‘Series 2’ collection at the Tim Olsen Gallery, Alex Perry exclusive range at Sun Studios to the launch of Kiwi Icon collection at Saatchi and Saatchi iconic building in Auckland, New Zealand.
Charities we support
Designer Rugs has been supporting Australian charities through fundraising initiatives and the donation of rugs since they first opened their doors over 25 years ago.
The company has collectively raised and donated thousands of dollars for various charities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Centre, ovarian cancer research, Cure the Future, Stephen Sanig Research Institute to name a few.
