Batik Ubud

The dynamic synergy between Designer Rugs’ expertise and Akira’s trademark breathtaking yet understated designs, has been actualised in our third collaboration. In this collaboration - named HIRAMEKI, meaning ‘Inspiration’ - Akira’s striking creations reference his current catwalk collections. Akira’s love of exploring the juxtaposition between his traditional Japanese heritage and the celebration of Australia’s love of colour, has translated into some exquisite pieces. "Batik is a water resistance dying technique. Was is used to hand paint on to the cloth first before it gets dyed. I found this cotton batik in Ubud, Bali." - Akira
