Ayame Round

The dynamic synergy between Designer Rugs’ expertise and Akira’s trademark breathtaking yet understated designs, has been actualised in our third collaboration. In this collaboration - named HIRAMEKI, meaning ‘Inspiration’ - Akira’s striking creations reference his current catwalk collections. Akira’s love of exploring the juxtaposition between his traditional Japanese heritage and the celebration of Australia’s love of colour, has translated into some exquisite pieces. " 'Ayame' (Iris) are commonly used in Japanese gardens and the motifs of the flowers are used in Kimonos. The original fabric was found in Kyoto. It was block and screen printed onto silk." - Akira
